So when people ask me where to eat near Dabolim Airport, I usually have more to say than just “come to Highway K’tchen.” This list is my honest take on the best restaurants near Dabolim Airport, Goa, including a few that are not mine, because a useful answer matters more to me than a self serving one.
Whether you have thirty minutes before a flight or a few hours to spare, I have tried to cover a genuine range here, North Indian food, Goan seafood, continental options, and a couple of quick bite spots.
Most visitors picture Goa’s food scene as beach shacks in Calangute, Baga, or Anjuna, all in North Goa, a fair distance from the airport. The area around Dabolim, including Vasco da Gama and the rest of South Goa, has a different rhythm. It is quieter, less built for tourists, and in my experience, often better value, while still offering real variety.
I opened Highway K’tchen here for exactly this reason. I did not want to compete with a hundred other restaurants on a crowded North Goa strip. I wanted to build something for the people who actually live and travel through this part of Goa, and I think that shows in how this whole area has developed around food.
I will be upfront about how I chose these restaurants. I picked places based on how close they are to Dabolim Airport, the range of food they serve, and what I have heard consistently from guests and locals over time. Highway K’tchen is on this list because I know exactly what we serve and what we do well. The other restaurants are ones I genuinely think are worth your time, not names I am including out of obligation. If a restaurant did not deserve to be here, I would rather leave it off than pad the list.
I will start with my own restaurant, since I can speak to it most honestly. Highway K’tchen is a top-rated North Indian restaurant in Dabolim, a short drive from the airport, built around dhaba style cooking. We make our tandoori dishes in a traditional clay oven, and dishes like our dal makhani and butter chicken are cooked slow, the way I grew up eating them. We also serve a few Chinese and continental dishes, along with street food style items like gol gappe and kathi rolls, because I know not every table wants the same kind of food. If you want a proper sit down meal rather than something quick, and you are craving real North Indian flavours without driving into North Goa, this is what we built Highway K’tchen for.
Filomena’s Kitchen is on Airport Road, about a kilometre from Dabolim, and it is a good example of doing variety well. Their menu moves between Indian, Goan, Italian, and continental dishes, and their outdoor seating gets a nice, lively atmosphere in the evenings. I would send a group here if everyone at the table wants something different, since not many places nearby handle that as well as they do.
Yellow Chilli, associated with chef Sanjeev Kapoor, is the restaurant I would recommend if you want a more formal, refined evening near the airport. Their take on Indian and seafood dishes is polished, and it suits a guest who wants a proper fine dining experience and does not mind paying a bit more for it.
Tiffin, in Vasco, is where I point people when they want proper Goan seafood rather than North Indian food. Their fish curries and fish thali are the real thing, and the poolside seating makes it a nice spot for a longer, unhurried lunch or dinner. If you have come to Goa for the coastal flavours, this is close to the airport and worth the short drive.
Not every trip near Dabolim needs a full meal, and I try to be realistic about that. If you only have thirty minutes to an hour, look for the smaller cafes and casual spots along Airport Road rather than a full sit down restaurant. If you have more time, places like Highway K’tchen, Yellow Chilli, or Tiffin will give you a proper meal without feeling rushed. From what I have seen, a relaxed sit down meal near the airport needs at least 45 to 60 minutes, and I would build in extra time during busy lunch and dinner hours, when tables fill up fast.
I think people are often surprised by how much variety exists around Dabolim once they look. You have North Indian and Punjabi food, tandoori dishes and rich curries, which is what we focus on at Highway K’tchen. You have proper Goan seafood, fish curry, prawns, coastal thalis, which is where I send people to Tiffin. You have continental and Italian food for anyone wanting something more familiar, and places like Filomena’s Kitchen that bring several cuisines together on one menu. Whatever you are craving, there is a decent chance you will find it near the airport without much of a drive.
A few things I have learned from running a restaurant here myself. Meal times around flight arrivals and departures get busy, especially during peak morning and evening hours, so I would always suggest calling ahead or booking a table if you are heading to a sit down restaurant. Most places near the airport, including us, accept cards, but I would still carry some cash as a backup, particularly for smaller cafes. If you are travelling as a larger group, I would lean toward restaurants with a broader menu, like Highway K’tchen or Filomena’s Kitchen, since a single cuisine spot can be harder to please everyone with.
